Famous Scotsmen: The “Glasgow Four”- artists Charles Rennie Mackintosh, his wife Margaret Macdonald Mackintosh, J. Herbert MacNair, and his wife Frances Macdonald MacNair (sister of Margaret Macdonald).  Presented by Deb Balbour.

Covered in the news: Working on a hand-held device to detect counterfeit whisky; Tidal power for distilleries on Islay; Diageo invest 3.5 million pounds into Caol Ila distillery; A seventy year old Gordon & MacPhail Glenlivet auctioned to benefit earthquake victims in Japan; White & McKay have duplicated and are ready to sell Shackleton’s whisky.

Also- Tribute to Dave Larson with a 15 yr old Balblair supplied by Michael Lord, proprietor of the Whisky Shop of Dufftown.  In a classy gesture, Mr. Lord provided the bottle with a request that we toast the memory of Dave.

New Business:

  1. May meeting will be May 15th.
  2. May meeting will be our second annual showing of the film “Whisky Galore” with a dinner and whisky pairing.
